The Art of Felt
Inspirational designs, textures and surfaces
$31 PLUS SHIPPING
1 ONLY
Book Description:
An inspiring, all-color survey of designs and patterns for this popular craft

Often thought of as a practical material, felt can be surprisingly versatile and even poetic. With handmade felted fabrics, subtle variations in color, texture, and volume can be achieved: threads and fibers merge almost magically to form new motifs that can then be enlivened by embroidered or crocheted details.

Françoise Tellier-Loumagne takes an original approach to the world of feltmaking, finding design inspiration in calm morning skies, spectacular sunsets, and brilliant fireworks displays. The book includes basic techniques that can be used to create felted fabrics from scratch, such as needle-felting and tufting, along with imaginative ideas for ready-made felt. With a little artistic guidance, clouds across the moon can be turned into an eye-catching necklace, or a stormy sky may inspire a striking scarf or cushion cover.

Illustrated with hundreds of images, this book will be a treasure trove for anyone interested in original textile design. The author has taught textile and knit design in France for more than forty years.

Making Felted Friends
$17 PLUS SHIPPING

Book Description
Crafters everywhere are discovering the joys of feltmaking. Working with fleece roving now readily available at yarn and craft stores is fun, tactile, and easy for all ages and levels of crafters. The 25 irresistible projects in Making Felted Friends show how creative it can be to work with this colorful, malleable medium using wet and needle-felting techniques. From cats, dogs, and penguins to snakes, dinosaurs, and monkeys, all the favorite animal friends are covered. Many start with a simple armature, which is wrapped with fleece roving. Then, with the addition of a bit of soap, water, and elbow grease, most projects can be made in several hours. Felting invites embellishment, and these projects make the most of it with brightly colored spots, stripes, spikes, and beaks that offer the imaginative crafter opportunities for sculpting one-of-a-kind creatures. Playful and cuddly to hold, some of these fuzzy felted friends make perfect toys. Others are designed to add a decorative touch to a tabletop or mantel display. Whether given as gifts or kept for entertainment and inspiration, the comical critters in this original felted menagerie are sure to become friends for life.

Knit One Felt Too
$17 PLUS SHIPPING
1 ONLY
Book Description:
As Taylor notes, it's disconcerting to shrink a sweater in the washer, but if you knit a loose, oversize garment and then shrink it on purpose, you have turned a wool object into felt. But it's not quite as simple as that. Some yarns and some brands felt more quickly, some need a few minutes in the washer, and others require three full cycles. Taylor offers 25 projects, first showing how to knit the item, then how to get the desired look. The projects are quite inventive, from toddler slippers shaped like bunnies to wine bags decorated with grapes. Taylor's enthusiasm combined with the straightforward instructions and eye-catching color photos will entice knitters.

HOOKED MESSAGE BOARD

This is the little mat I finished a while back and put into a message board.  The scene is of a little red cabin on top of a hill over looking the sky and mountains surrounded by rose bushes in a field of flowers.  The mat is hooked with yarn since its a small scene and mesures 9 1/2"X3".  The message board mesures 14"X11".  It has a hanger on the back to put on the wall or it can stand on a table.  If you don't want the message board you can always take the back out and put in a picture or another hooked mat.  This is a great board to put in your kitchen or craft room to keep track of all the rug hookin's this year.  I"ll even throw in plastic pins for the message board.

PINCUSHION TUESDAY

Welcome to Pincushion Tuesday again folks.  This is a bigger pincushion, wich was needle felted  with a red BFL roving into a vintage Burleigh ware compote dish.  It mesures about 6 1/2" wide from each handle and about 3" high.  it really is a nice size to hold all your pins and needles.  I think this is one of my favs so far, because of the antique cream color of the dish.
